What was the decision that led you to join Gulftech?

During my career within the Turatti group, I had the opportunity to achieve prestigious results, being particularly proud to have strengthened the core business of processing solutions for the fresh-cut sector. At the same time, I elaborated a strategic plan that allowed our company to enter new markets such as “Controlled Environment Agriculture”, nutraceutical, and plant-based proteins, acquiring the most important companies in each of these sectors as customers.

Nevertheless, following the recent complete exit of my family from our storied family business, I needed to take up new challenges and to operate in new fields.

Gulftech appeared immediately to me as the ideal environment in which to operate, since the Gulftech family of companies are the world’s recognized leaders in the engineering, manufacture, and service of industrial equipment serving many of the most important global food production and processing companies. Operating for decades in the sector, I was already aware of the incredible reputation the Gulftech subsidiaries, and what certainly impressed me after joining is the structure of a truly internationally organized group of companies, specialized in customer service, operational efficiency, and global market expansion.

In which sectors does Gulftech operate?

The areas in which the holding company works are varied and cover the entire spectrum of process solutions for fruit and vegetables, fish, and packaging.

With an international footprint spanning more than 85 countries, Gulftech operates a family of seven companies dedicated to serving some of the largest global food and beverage processors, from AG fields up to and including the packaging phase. Each company of the holding is focused on developing specific cutting-edge solutions to maximize customer experiences in its area of competence. At the same time, Gulftech centrally operates a series of synergies allowing them to constantly improve and maintain the equipment, surpassing industry trends along the way.

What will be your role within the group?

I will work to identify and assess new markets, products, services, and business opportunities globally. Thus, working with all the seven companies of the holding, with the focus on penetrating new markets and regions of the world. I shall be implementing new growth opportunities, with the background to have grown up in an environment where innovation and passion for new challenges thrived. This is a very exciting moment to operate in the food and packaging industries and I will be continuing to work in recognizing trends and patterns in the food processing sectors, in automation, and hygienic design.

As I continue to travel around the world, I will continue to be based in Salinas, California. Living in what it is called the “Salad Bowl of the world”, is another amazing opportunity to me since the city embarked upon a new mission to harness its strengths in agriculture and proximity to Silicon Valley to create an AgTech Innovation Ecosystem. Gulftech is already a major player and, through my local and global network, I am meeting daily with entrepreneurs, innovators, and startups to consolidate and expand the leadership of the holding group of companies.

Your background is varied but focused in the fresh-cut sector, what does Gulftech offer in this area?

ABL and Atlas Pacific are the undisputed global leaders in fruit processing, a sector that in the fresh-cut market has growth potential far above the current levels. As a matter of fact, fresh-cut fruit processing is complicated by the inherent properties of fruits, that complete the ripening process after harvest. Therefore, each machine is engineered to set new standards for performance and efficiency; from operator safety and process automation to contamination control and fruit quality safeguarding, the systems are designed to improve the elements that matter most to the processors.

In addition to that, the companies of Gulftech International operating in the produce and packaging industry, will be introducing ground-breaking solutions to allow the processors to deliver sustainable and safe products.

Among the others, the latest company to enter the group, Verdant Technologies, is focusing on the perishable supply chain of the future, involving less global waste and more sustainability. This proprietary technology extends the usable product life of fruits, vegetables, and flowers and preserves them at their peak.
